About The Position

Serves as a member of the Management Development Program (MDP) and participates in ten weeks of Core Training and one year of On-the-Job (OJT) training. The program is designed for recent college graduates to learn sales, accounting, project management, and leadership skills. The Wealth Management department supports servicing and related sales enablement activities to drive new client relationships and retain and deepen existing High Net Worth and Ultra-High Net Worth client relationships. This role partners with key stakeholders to ensure clients have access to all resources and solutions, utilizes operational, technical, and functional expertise to support sales and service strategies, and resolves routine service issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree candidate at a school where M&T Bank recruits MDPs (or an MBA student with no work experience).
  • Outstanding academic credentials (GPA of 3.0 or better).
  • Up to 1 years' work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and complete a one-year long, non-rotational training program while creating and adding value to assigned department.
  • Receive job specific training, general training in banking, communication and leadership, and personalized coaching and feedback.
  • Participate in ten weeks of Core Training to learn banking, basic financial skills, technical skills, and leadership/interpersonal skills.
  • Develop a solid understanding of banking functions, processes, and operations.
  • Participate in two group project assignments, working with a team of peers to build relationships and present recommendations to senior management.
  • Combine fundamental skills with On-the-Job training based on the incumbent's assignment, learning departmental policies, procedures, systems, and products.
  • Complete tasks in a manner that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
  • Service the daily transaction needs of wealth clients, including problem resolution, overdrafts, account delinquency, wire transfers, book transfers, and account maintenance.
  • Apply sound, independent judgment and take ownership over operational problems.
  • Resolve routine service issues with the goal of exceeding client expectations.
  • Open and onboard new client relationships by getting clients acclimated with systems and confirming they have received all necessary information and materials.
  • Build, manage and maintain strong client relationships through daily interactions with clients, Wealth Management team, and internal business partners.
