Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Management Associate will participate in an 18 to 24-month formal training program designed to develop technical, operational, and leadership skills within Martin Marietta's Aggregates business. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and structured learning, associates will gain exposure to all aspects of plant operations, production management, and people leadership. The program is designed to prepare high-potential individuals for future supervisory and frontline leadership roles by developing the skills needed to lead crews, manage production, drive operational performance, and foster a strong safety culture. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be considered for promotion to a production Foreman position or another relevant role as a first step in their careers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn technical processes and adapt to a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work safely in an outdoor industrial environment around heavy equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with or knowledge of the mining, aggregates, construction materials, or related industries preferred.
  • No prior full-time professional experience required.
  • Previous internship, co-op, or industry-related experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and enforce prescribed ethics, safety, and environmental measures.
  • Use engineering principles to assist in pit development, plant design, operational improvements, and production optimization initiatives.
  • Operate and maintain equipment throughout the plant, including but not limited to crushers, screens, conveyors, and heavy off-road equipment.
  • Assist in drilling and blasting activities, including laying out drill patterns, preparing blast designs, and supporting blast execution.
  • Become proficient in performing quality control testing and understanding product specifications.
  • Participate in operational and continuous improvement projects that enhance plant efficiency, productivity, and safety.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality control, and leadership teams to support operational goals.
  • Provide a high level of customer service by following established procedures and through personal actions.
  • Participate in leadership development activities designed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities.
  • Develop skills in employee coaching, communication, work planning, and crew leadership.
  • Observe and assist supervisors with workforce management, production scheduling, and daily operational decision-making.
  • Gain experience leading small teams and coordinating work activities while promoting a safe, productive, and inclusive work environment.
  • Become familiar with the traits, expectations, and best practices of high-performing Martin Marietta leaders.
  • Provide leadership and direction for employees as needed throughout the training program.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, Values, policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.
