About The Position

The Office for Family Independence is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional to join the Central office team in Augusta, ME. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, identifying trends, solving complex problems, and helping transform information into meaningful business decisions. The successful candidate will work closely with MaineCare program leadership, providing the data and analysis needed to support program operations, strategic planning, and decision making. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys using data to answer complex questions and aid in the administration of a statewide public assistance program serving hundreds of thousands of Maine residents. This position will collect, compile, validate, and analyze data related to MaineCare eligibility operations, program performance, workload trends, and policy implementation. The analysis produced by this role will support MaineCare leadership in evaluating program outcomes, identifying emerging trends, managing resources, supporting budget development, and guiding operational improvements. The position will also play a key role in supporting federally required reporting by ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with reporting requirements. In addition, this position will support MaineCare technology system maintenance and modernization efforts by helping define business requirements, collaborating with technology partners, and ensuring program data needs are incorporated into system enhancements. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop comprehensive understanding of MaineCare eligibility operations while helping improve the quality, accessibility, and use of program data across the Department. The successful candidate will collaborate with program leadership, contribute to major modernization initiatives, and help ensure data driven decisions support the effective administration of MaineCare services statewide.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of education, training, and/or experience analyzing, evaluating, and/or developing improvements to organizational and/or managerial systems, programs, and practices.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to identify issues, validate causes, and develop and propose solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with staff, co-workers, constituents, other offices, contracted vendors, and/or agencies.
  • High level of proficiency in verbal and written communications, data analyzation and experience working within a team and providing quality results to multiple sources.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, analyze, and interpret MaineCare eligibility and operational data.
  • Develop reports and dashboards to support leadership decision-making.
  • Identify trends, operational issues, and opportunities for program improvement.
  • Support federally required reporting and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist with MaineCare systems modernization by documenting business requirements and collaborating with technology partners.
  • Develop complex data queries and analytical reports.
  • Support budget development, workload analysis, and resource planning.
  • Recommend improvements to business processes and reporting methods.
  • Collaborate with leadership, technology staff, vendors, and federal partners.
