About The Position

The City of Rancho Cordova is seeking a Management Analyst I/II to join the Neighborhood Services Department. This role will provide analytical, financial, and administrative support across a diverse portfolio of Neighborhood Services programs, including Code Enforcement, Animal Services, Parking Enforcement, Rental Housing, Homeless Outreach, and Emergency Preparedness. The position involves working closely with staff and management to support budgets and financial activities, analyze program data, administer contracts and grants, prepare professional reports, and contribute to the advancement of important programs and projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an analyst seeking exposure to various municipal operations while supporting programs that enhance the safety, strength, and vibrancy of Rancho Cordova's neighborhoods. As a Management Analyst I/II, you will be instrumental in supporting both the daily and long-term operations of Neighborhood Services, with assignments encompassing financial management, data analysis, contract and grant administration, research, reporting, and project coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience preferably in municipal government, including experience in budget, strategic planning, policy analysis, organizational development, economic development, and/or personnel.
• A valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record may be required.
• Ability to travel to off-site meetings, trainings, events, and other work-related locations as required.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort working with financial information, budgets, data, and performance measures.
• Strong organizational and project management skills and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, management, contractors, community partners, and other City departments.
• Sound judgment, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Adaptability and interest in learning about a variety of Neighborhood Services programs and municipal operations.
• Comfort taking ownership of assignments and, as experience develops, leading programs and special projects.
• For Management Analyst II: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience, at a level comparable in scope and complexity to that of a Management Analyst I at the City of Rancho Cordova, performing professional experience preferably in municipal government, including experience in budget, strategic planning, policy analysis, organizational development, economic development, and/or personnel.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree is desirable for Management Analyst II.
• Experience with municipal government, budget and financial analysis, data reporting, contract or grant administration, project management, and Microsoft Excel is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial and budget activities for Neighborhood Services programs, including processing and tracking financial transactions, assisting with division and program budgets, and supporting financial reporting.
• Collect, analyze, and report program data and performance metrics, developing statistical reports and tracking information that helps management evaluate program performance and make informed decisions.
• Support contract and grant administration, including drafting contracts, monitoring financial activity, and providing ongoing contract management and administrative support.
• Prepare professional reports and management analyses, including staff reports, operational reports, financial reports, and management studies for departmental and City leadership.
• Provide analytical and administrative support across Neighborhood Services programs, including Code Enforcement, Animal Services, Parking Enforcement, Rental Housing, Homeless Outreach, and Emergency Preparedness.
• Lead assigned programs and special projects, coordinating work across staff and stakeholders while developing increased responsibility for program management and operational initiatives.
