About The Position

The Mammography Trainee performs routine and diagnostic exams relating to breast
anatomy to obtain images at a satisfactory level under the guidance of a
certified Mammography Technologist. Maintains and monitors patient environment,
adheres to safety procedures and contributes to the security and maintenance of
the unit.

• Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player
• Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately
• Ability to excel in a very fast-pace team environment
• Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectation
• Strong communication skills & professional demeanor
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
• Current license from state medical board (if applicable)
• Current CPR/BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients to ascertain medical history and provides instructions/explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
• Provides patient education on breast self-examination as needed.
• Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent.
• Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
• Obtains prior imaging as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
• Performs exams while attending to patient’s care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.
• Transfers images to other locations as needed.
• Coordinates procedure protocols with Radiologist.
• Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
• Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
