About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA, is currently hiring a Mammography Technologist for a flexi/PRN, Day Shift. Work hours and location may vary based on operational needs. Ability to work a flexible schedule is preferred. Weekend availability may be required. This role involves performing and analyzing all screening/diagnostic mammography procedures and/or bone densitometry. The technologist must adhere to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies, while providing the best patient care and practicing radiation safety standards at all times. Responsibilities include conducting general screening and diagnostic Mammography and/or Bone Densitometry imaging studies, positioning patients for correct anatomy/pathology, operating radiation-producing equipment and electronic radiology systems, preparing patient rooms/equipment/medications, and maintaining adequate supply inventory. The technologist will also explain examinations and procedures to patients and complete departmental documentation.

Requirements

  • Trade School Graduate - Radiologic Technology (Required)
  • ARRT (Required)
  • Will consider registry eligible graduate, must be registered within 180 days of hire
  • Must be ARRT (M) within 1 year of hire
  • BLS

Responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze all screening/diagnostic mammography procedures and/or bone densitometry.
  • Perform all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Provide the best patient care and practice radiation safety standards at all times.
  • Conducts general screening and diagnostic Mammography and /or Bone Densitometry imaging studies of patients, within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician.
  • Positioning of patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology.
  • Operation of radiation producing equipment.
  • Operation of the electronic radiology systems.
  • Preparation of patient room/equipment/medications.
  • Maintains adequate supply inventory.
  • Explains examination and procedure to patient and completes departmental documentation.
