About The Position

This position provides mammography imaging services. The technologist will operate equipment, perform various mammography related procedures, prepare and position patients, and select accurate anatomic and technical parameters. They will also explain procedures, educate patients on the importance of regular mammography, and develop and evaluate film quality. Additionally, the role involves following radiation safety procedures, ensuring prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, maintaining equipment, and assisting in keeping the department clean and orderly. Bone density scans using DEXA equipment may also be performed.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date OR Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date OR Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Graduate of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bone Density Certification may be required within 6-months of hire or transfer date (if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide mammography imaging services.
  • Operate equipment and perform various mammography related procedures.
  • Prepare and position patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Explain procedures and educates patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health.
  • Develop and evaluate the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
  • May perform bone density scans using DEXA equipment, if applicable.
