Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Allied Health (Required)
  • Graduate of an approved technical, professional ,or vocational program (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
  • Required to meet the minimum continuing educational requirements established by the state of Ohio and is required to maintain ARRT and ODH licensure. (Required)
  • Mammography certification is required within 2 Yrs (Required)
  • Strong verbal and organizational skills
  • Able to interact with patients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mammography certification is required within 24 months of employment within this modality.
  • Required to meet the minimum continuing educational requirements established by the state of Ohio and is required to maintain ARRT and ODH licensure.
  • Adheres to the Practice Standards defined by the ASRT.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Radiologist and the supervision of the manager or supervisor, the mammography technologist performs imaging to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries.
  • Perform screening and diagnostic imaging, mammography guided procedures, specimen imaging, and bone density scanning in accordance with the American College of Radiology's appropriateness criteria, or by protocols developed and agreed upon by physician leadership and maintains annual competencies in those areas of imaging.
  • Perform quality mammography procedures, maintaining accurate records and documenting in the EMR.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team members including breast radiologists and breast surgical practice.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control required for FDA/ACR.
  • Work effectively with patients and families to provide patient care.
  • Comply with infection prevention procedures.
  • Assist with student education and orientation of new employees.
  • Ensure operation of mammography equipment by adhering to standard operating procedures and by troubleshooting and reporting malfunctions to leadership.
  • Assist clerical staff in the maintenance of records and files.
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Provides for patient, family, and staff comfort and care prior to, during, and after a procedure.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergent situations.
  • Maintains accurate records through the completion of all paperwork.
  • Demonstrates the ability to consistently produce and evaluate screening and diagnostic mammography for radiological interpretation.
  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills to promote the well-being of the department.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team members.
  • Demonstrates competency through ongoing CBE's.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of equipment and its operating procedures through CBE's.
  • Selects proper imaging protocols and follows departmental procedures.
