The Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs mammographic imaging studies; presenting them for diagnosis. The mammography technologist will also function as a Radiologic Technologist performing general X-ray studies. THIS POSITION OFFERS A 40-HOUR WORKWEEK, NO WEEKENDS, FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE, 12 PAID HOLIDAYS, BI-WEEKLY PAY.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an approved Radiology Technology Program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT).
  • MQSA required education.
  • Minimum one year experience with Mammography.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (ARRT)(R).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Mammography (ARRT)(M).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains ACR and MQSA certification requirements, assists with annual inspections, and ensure department is meeting standards.
  • Maintains image management equipment, reporting any equipment problem to appropriate resources.
  • Evaluates patient understanding and consent of procedure, patient condition, and patient’s ability to complete procedure.
  • Provides education on breast screening and self-breast awareness.
  • Uses technical knowledge and ability to assist in actively troubleshooting work unit problems with respect to equipment and protocols.
  • Documents incidents and advises the supervisor of improvement opportunities for the work unit.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
