About The Position

WakeMed is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Mammography Technologist to join our imaging team. In this vital role, you will combine technical expertise with patient-centered care to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services that support early detection and better health outcomes. The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality radiographic imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and supportive experience for every patient while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program (Required)
  • Registered Technologist in Radiography (ARRT) – Required
  • Registered Technologist in Mammography (ARRT-M) – Required

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical experience in radiology or mammography (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate mammography and radiologic imaging equipment to produce precise, high-quality diagnostic images
  • Ensure all imaging meets clinical standards for accuracy and clarity
  • Deliver exceptional patient care with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients and families to promote understanding and ease anxiety
  • Monitor patient conditions during procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and timely response to changes
  • Review physician orders and patient histories to prepare for imaging procedures
  • Prioritize workflow and ensure timely completion of exams
  • Position patients and equipment accurately to achieve optimal imaging results
  • Accurately document diagnostic data and maintain complete patient records
  • Enter required information into electronic health systems in a timely manner
  • Adjust imaging equipment based on physician direction and established protocols
  • Perform routine equipment checks and minor maintenance to ensure operational readiness
  • Report equipment issues promptly for repair or replacement
  • Partner with physicians and clinical teams to support interpretation of imaging results
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
