About The Position

The Mammography Technologist performs mammography screening, diagnostic evaluations, and procedures to support the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. The role also assists in training students and technologists in Mammography. The technologist maintains timeliness, accuracy, proficiency, efficiency, and safety while carrying out duties, and works closely with patients to explain procedures and help them feel comfortable. Travel of up to 20% is required.

Requirements

Professional/Vocational/Trade Training is required.
One year of Mammography experience is listed as preferred.
Radiology/Imaging Basic Life Support Program (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
X-Ray Operators (OPCERT) certification from the State Licensing Board.
Mammography (ARRT-M) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within one year.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree preferred.
New graduate of a Radiology/Mammography program preferred.
One year of Mammography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assume responsibility for self-development and stay current on the latest technology and techniques.
Clean, maintain, and restock examination and inventory rooms.
Collaborate with physicians on patient medical issues to determine protocols and procedures.
Complete mammography, bone density, and breast ultrasound exams and procedures; identify optimal images, evaluate them, and submit them for physician review according to policy and protocol.
Confirm patient identity and obtain and record patient identification information.
Review and update patient documentation in EMR/PACS.
Follow established safety and quality guidelines (MASA/ARC) and use ALARA radiation-reduction tools and techniques.
Assist in training students and technologists in Mammography.
Work with patients to explain procedures and help ensure their comfort.
