About The Position

This role involves performing mammography and stereotactic breast procedures under the direction of a radiologist. The technologist will be responsible for patient interaction, including greeting, preparing, and explaining procedures. They will also ensure proper patient positioning and the use of appropriate exposure factors to achieve high-quality radiographs. Maintaining quality standards, adhering to specific manuals, and managing patient information within the radiology information system are key aspects of this position, all while ensuring quality patient care.

Requirements

• AAS in Radiologic Technology or equivalent NYS license/registration or eligible
• ARRT in Mammography
• Minimum of one-year progressive technical experience
• Current CPR certification required
• Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance

Responsibilities

• Performing mammography and stereotactic breast procedures under the director order of a radiologist
• Greeting patients, preparing them for their exam, and explaining the procedure to be performed
• Positioning the patient appropriately for the radiographs and using proper exposure factors to obtain high quality radiographs
• Maintaining quality standards for mammography as required by the 1999 ACR Mammography QA/QC Manual and Hologic Selenia Dimensions QC Manual
• Maintaining continuing education requirements specified by MQSA
• Tracking of patient information into the Radiology information system for documentation and billing purposes
• Performing any other tasks that are necessary to maintain quality patient care
