Mammography Technologist (Corona, Queens)
About The Position
Under the direction of the Radiology Administrator, the Mammography Technologist will perform screening mammograms at Plaza del Sol Family Health Center in Corona, Queens. This role involves patient education, performing mammography exams, documentation, quality control, and ensuring patient privacy and comfort. The technologist will also act as a lead for training other Mammography Technologists and produce high-quality films for radiologist evaluation. A strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology is required, along with maintaining accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques. The role also serves as a primary liaison between patients, radiologists, and the support team, and requires participation in continuing education to maintain competence.
Requirements
- ARRT Mammography Certification
- NYS DOH Radiology Technician License
- Completion of 2 years from Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- 2+ years minimum of related experience with mammograms
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Digital 3-D and Quality Control highly desired.
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired.
Responsibilities
- Complete patient education regarding the exam, promote patient privacy and comfort.
- Perform screening mammography as ordered.
- Completes appropriate documentation.
- Acts as lead for the division in supporting training of other Mammo Techs.
- Produce high quality films for the radiologist to evaluation.
- Performs quality control functions related to mammography.
- Follow infection control and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrate understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in mammography positioning and exposure technique.
- Serves as primary liaison between patients, Radiologists and other members of the support team.
- Participates in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence.
- Perform all duties using proper body mechanics, including manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.
