About The Position

The Mammography Technologist performs mammography examinations as well as performs and records the results of Quality Assurance and Quality control procedures. This is a part-time, per diem position with variable hours.

Requirements

  • Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) approved Radiologic Technology Program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification; registry eligible in mammography.
  • Must maintain 24 continuing education credits per biennium to maintain registry status.
  • Certification or recertification in Basic Life support (BLS) within three months of hire.
  • One year of experience as a Registered Radiographer.
  • Registry eligible in mammography.
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs.
  • Ability to perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science degree (BS)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in mammography.
  • Must maintain 15 continuing education credits per three years in Mammography to maintain registry.
  • One year of mammography experience including 3D mammography.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and records the results of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Assists the Radiologist with biopsies and needle localizations (if trained in breast ultrasound and stereo and guided core needle biopsies).
  • Determines whether a mammogram is screening or diagnostic study.
  • Performs mammography examinations and patient education on Hospital services and treatments.
  • Acquires patient history & explains exam and procedures, assuring that patient and/or family understand scope of exam.
  • Monitors safety and comfort of patient through the exam.
