This position is primarily responsible for performing diagnostic mammography and radiographic exams in accordance with radiological procedures, Gonzaba Medical Group organization, and legal standards. The role involves operating X-ray equipment, developing and evaluating images, educating patients on preventive breast health, and maintaining records and equipment. The technologist will also oversee the Quality Assurance Mammography program and serve as a resource for other mammography technicians. Responsibilities include performing mammograms, breast magnification/compression, and special exams, selecting appropriate equipment, positioning patients, and processing images. Aseptic environments must be maintained when required, and radiographs must be monitored for technical quality. Patient history is obtained for mammography exams, and x-ray jackets are prepared. Mammography and x-ray rooms must be kept clean and neat. The work environment is a clinic setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medicinal preparations. The role requires manual dexterity, the ability to sit, stand, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and lift up to 40 lbs without assistance. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary. The individual must be able to work efficiently under pressure.
