About The Position

InterHealth Staffing, a division of TGH, is offering 13-week seasonal assignments for Mammography Technologists. These positions provide competitive pay, potential for extensions, and an opportunity to experience TGH's culture with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role. Tampa General Hospital is a leading academic medical center committed to providing world-class, compassionate healthcare. This role involves performing mammography procedures under the direction of a Radiologist, adhering to ACR and FDA protocols. The technologist will perform screening and diagnostic procedures using 2D or 3D techniques, requiring judgment and initiative. This position may also include performing stereotactic guided breast biopsies and training new team members.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a 2-year radiologic technology program from an accredited school.
Current and valid Florida State License (CRT).
Current and valid Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry and Mammography (M) registry.
Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association (CPR).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience within mammography.
Competent to work independently.
Knowledge and skill in performing Mammography procedures and protocols.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary for mammography testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
Knowledge of mammography equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology.
Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies, including safety, privacy, and HIPAA regulations.
Knowledge of safety requirements for staff, patients, and visitors.
Skill in positioning patients properly.
Skill in using computer network systems competently to process patient and department information.
Skill in performing quality exams and exercising compassion with patients.
Skill in completing job functions in a timely manner.
Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other staff.
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and management.

Responsibilities

Perform stereotactic guided breast biopsies.
Train new team members and provide ongoing training for positioning.
Verify that the prescription matches the procedure to be performed and record all reasons for the exam, including signs and symptoms.
Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
Position patients and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views.
Move mammography equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors.
Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure.
Process digital images and examine for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
Verify that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS, making necessary changes to billing codes/exam titles.
Present prior and current studies to the radiologist for diagnostic assessment.
Stock/order supplies, check machine for problems, and perform equipment QC as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
