About The Position

The Mammography Technologist Part-Time will ensure all images are properly labeled, obtain a complete patient medical history, and maintain current knowledge of ACR and MQSA mammography standards. The technologist will correctly position patients and accurately produce mammograms, perform and assist with various mammography procedures including biopsies, and prepare patients for screening, diagnostic, and interventional mammography and DEXA procedures.

Requirements

  • Requires a current New Jersey license to practice Radiologic Technology.
  • Requires a working knowledge of the X-Ray, mammography and computer technology normally found within the Radiology Department.
  • Possesses the sensitivity and skills to effectively interact with patients, Physicians, Hospital employees and students.
  • Possesses good reading and deductive skills in order to ascertain Physician's requests and solve problems.
  • Possesses the ability to think and move quickly in order to deliver quality and efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all images are properly labeled with patient identification, correct side being imaged and technologist identification according to ACR and MQSA standards.
  • Obtain a complete patient medical history as it pertains to breast health and documents the information in the Radiology Information System's mammography history section.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of ACR and MQSA mammography standards to provide assistance to the Mammography Manager during the accreditation process.
  • Correctly position patient and accurately produces mammograms according to physician's specifications with 97-100% accuracy.
  • Perform and assist radiologist during mammography procedures including needle localizations, stereotactic and MRI guided breast biopsies.
  • Prepare patient for screening, diagnostic and interventional mammography and DEXA procedures, as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
