About The Position

Onsite Women's Health is dedicated to enhancing women's healthcare by providing comprehensive mammography services in partnership with healthcare providers nationwide. We utilize advanced technology and specialized protocols to deliver personalized and convenient breast care, recognizing that convenience is key to ensuring women remain compliant with their screenings. By integrating mammography services within primary care or OB/GYN practices and scheduling appointments alongside annual exams, we make breast care more accessible. The Mammographer-in-Training role is part of Onsite University, offering specialized clinical education to prepare radiologic technologists to become certified and registered mammographers. Trainees will demonstrate compassionate patient care and proficiency in using ionizing radiation to produce high-quality imaging, contributing to early breast cancer detection.

Requirements

  • ARRT required
  • Minimum of 1 year of practical experience
  • Completed 40 hr. initial training course in Mammography
  • Must maintain CEU's as required by State and or National accreditation bodies
  • Willingness to learn and accept constructive criticism
  • Possess critical thinking skills and displays professional judgment

Responsibilities

  • Learn to perform Digital and 3D Mammography of the breast under direct supervision, aiming for independent performance.
  • Specialize in producing screening and diagnostic mammograms for early breast cancer detection.
  • Prepare patients for mammographic procedures, emphasizing the importance of compression and explaining procedures to alleviate anxiety.
  • Record relevant patient clinical and family history according to site policy.
  • Position patients and equipment according to Onsite protocol and radiologist requests.
  • Instruct patients on proper breathing techniques before exposure.
  • Operate mammographic equipment, adjusting controls for optimal exposure factors based on established techniques and protocols.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices and patient shielding.
  • Follow prescribed safety standards in operating all required equipment.
  • Evaluate digital and tomographic images for diagnostic quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure mammographic equipment is in proper working order at all times.
  • Perform all required Quality Control (QC) testing to comply with manufacturer, MQSA, ACR, and State requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Process routine paperwork and complete all required data entry.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Prepare all required reports and data according to MQSA and State requirements.
  • Perform all mammography tracking following MQSA guidelines.
  • Maintain all Quality Assurance (QA) documents to meet or exceed Annual FDA Inspection requirements.
  • Follow and document all ARRT structured education and clinical experience requirements prior to certification application.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.
