About The Position

The Mammography Technologist performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography examinations to obtain high quality radiographs. Obtains images of excellent diagnostic quality to optimally demonstrate anatomy and/or pathology while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients. The technologist educates the patient/family about the procedure as well as provides pre and post procedure instructions. The technologist takes measures to provide and care for the patient’s safety and properly utilizes procedure related patient care/support devices appropriate for the age of the patient. Alerts Supervisor and/or appropriate staff of potential problems or equipment malfunctions. Maintains a relaxed environment to calm anxious patients. Additionally, performs special procedures including stereotactic core biopsies, ultrasound guided core biopsies, needle localizations and ductograms. Is able to assume responsibility of daily departmental operations in the absence of the Supervisor/Manager, is a knowledge resource to less experienced staff, trains employees on quality control processes, and assists Supervisor/Manager with coordination of staff activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or higher.
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum of 4 years mammography experience.
  • California Radiologic Technologist Diagnostic Radiologic Technology - CRTXR
  • California Radiologic Technologist Mammographic Radiologic Technology - CRTMA
  • AHA BLS certification
  • ARRT Radiography - RTR
  • ARRT Mammography - RTM

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in breast ultrasound scanning with ultrasound procedures.
  • Advanced certification in Breast Ultrasound (BS) from ARRT or ARDMS.
