The Mammography Technologist II performs routine and diagnostic exams relating to breast anatomy, breast ultrasound, and bone density to obtain images at a satisfactory level with minimal supervision. This role interfaces with patients to ascertain medical history, provides instructions and explanations of procedures, and educates patients on breast self-examination. The technologist reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent, screens patients for surgical and other implants, and contrast allergies. They obtain prior imaging as needed and perform high-quality scans for radiologist interpretation. The technologist performs Bone Density, Breast Ultrasound, and Mammography exams while attending to patient care before, during, and following the exam, notifying appropriate parties if the patient's condition changes. They also transfer images as needed, coordinate procedure protocols with the Radiologist, and maintain and inspect equipment, reporting any quality concerns or equipment failures. Additionally, they interface with the Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding departmental concerns.
