About The Position

The Mammography Technologist specializes in performing mammography exams to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. The Mammographer Technologist will operate mammography equipment ensuring customer/patient comfort and safety, while following regulatory and quality control standards, and collaborates with healthcare teams and licensed practitioners to produce high-quality diagnostic images for accurate evaluation and treatment planning.

Requirements

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – Accredited program or school.
  • General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Advanced certification in Radiology from American Registry of Radiologic Technologist – ARRT (R) prior to start date and maintained.
  • Advanced certification in Mammography from American Registry of Radiologic Technologist – ARRT (M) prior to start date and maintained.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Ability to report to the applicable Health First facility within thirty (30) minutes when on call if applicable.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in a stressful work environment and able to respond to life threatening situations.
  • Demonstrates effective time management, critical thinking skills, and coordinate scheduling and patient flow.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in patience care or customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains production and quality of mammograms using proper standards, procedures and necessary adjustments, while ensuring a safe environment with the operation of diagnostic imaging equipment for customers/patients, coworkers, and self by adhering to diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs a variety of procedures which may include general radiographic, mammography, bone density, stereotactic procedures, fluoroscopic, emergency room, trauma, operating room, and portables.
  • Properly screens patients for diagnostic imaging exam and effectively documents and communicates pertinent and required information pre and post procedure performance.
  • Positions patients for diagnostic imaging exam using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with department safety procedures and protocols.
  • Produces images consistent with image quality standards and evaluate diagnostic imaging exams for technical quality.
  • Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications that are within the Mammography Technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Monitors patients during exams, observing for any adverse reactions or complications, and taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Maintains flexibility, adapts to changes in workflow processes and the needs of the Health First organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume.
  • Communicates effectively with customers (patients, LP, other Health First associates, the public, etc.) always using excellent customer relation skills.
  • Follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to Joint Commission/ACR standards.
  • Provides orientation and education for new Technologists and assists Radiologists in developing new protocols and diagnostic imaging techniques.
