About The Position

This is a Per Diem Mammography Tech position in Outpatient Imaging. The role involves producing quality mammography images for interpretation, ensuring patient safety through proper exposure and protective measures, and educating patients about procedures. The technologist will follow departmental protocols, obtain and document patient history, and communicate with Radiologists. Responsibilities also include adhering to infection control standards, prioritizing and organizing work, operating medical imaging equipment safely, and demonstrating awareness of radiation safety procedures. Quality control checks, adherence to regulatory guidelines (ACR/MQSA), and performing specific mammography procedures like needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies are also key functions. The role requires knowledge of safety, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations, strong organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to compassionate patient care and ALARA principles. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment is also expected.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT) (R) required.
  • Advanced registry in Mammography, (M), required.
  • Must have current NJ State Radiographer License in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • 2+ years’ experience performing Mammography required.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be familiar with and utilize an Electronic Medical Record System, RIS and PACS System.
  • Ability to travel to satellite locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Produces quality mammography images for interpretation.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient safety by utilizing proper exposure and protective measures.
  • Educates and explains procedures to patients.
  • Follows appropriate departmental protocol for procedures unless otherwise specified by the Radiologist.
  • Obtains and documents patient history and pertinent information.
  • Insures proper identification of patient and patient demographics in PACS.
  • Communicates with attending Radiologists and verifies provider orders.
  • Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities, based on changing business situations.
  • Operates medical imaging equipment properly and safely.
  • Demonstrates awareness of Radiation Safety Procedures for self and others.
  • Ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.
  • Follows department protocols in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms.
  • Follows regulatory guidelines and performs QA/QC as mandated by ACR/ MQSA.
  • Follows mammography procedures for needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of safety, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and efficient while working well with others in a team setting.
  • Must always deliver compassionate patient care with satisfaction a priority.
  • Must adhere to ALARA principles while delivering quality, safe patient imaging at all times.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
  • Other job duties as required.
