Upon the order of a qualified physician, the Mammography Technologist will utilize equipment which produces ionizing radiation to obtain images for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. The Mammography Technologist will perform Mammography and DEXA studies. The Mammography Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) and designated PACS system. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • 40 hours mammography training approved by the ARRT and 25 supervised exams to meet the minimum initial FDA & TMB requirements for mammographers
  • ARRT (R) MRT-General Certificate
  • Employee must attain ARRT(M) within one year of eligibility
  • BLS through American Heart Association
  • Experience using Microsoft
  • Working knowledge of mammography quality assurance measures and accreditation requirements
  • Proven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT (R)(M) MRT-General Certificate
  • 2+ years of experience in mammography
  • 1+ years of KSC experience in X-ray and/or SCNB experience
  • PACS and RIS experience

Responsibilities

  • Utilize equipment which produces ionizing radiation to obtain images for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, upon the order of a qualified physician
  • Perform Mammography and DEXA studies
  • Utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) and designated PACS system
  • Be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties
  • For Per Diem Mammography Technologist II: Perform Mammography and DEXA studies, in addition to general radiographic studies, fluoroscopic studies, ASC procedures, and/or SCNB procedures
