About The Position

This is a Temporary PRN Position responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology. The role involves suggesting changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement, as well as coordinating training and development in breast imaging specialties. The position adheres to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section and serves as the facility MQSA Consultant and primary resource for MQSA, FDA, ACR, and state regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include coordinating MQSA inspections, ACR accreditation, and regulatory survey readiness, maintaining all required MQSA documentation, overseeing the Mammography QA/QC program, leading mammography quality improvement initiatives, and developing/reviewing mammography policies and procedures. The role also involves monitoring outcomes audits, repeat analysis, image quality, and performance metrics, providing staff education, and serving as a liaison with radiologists, physicists, vendors, quality, and leadership. Additionally, the position requires maintaining appropriate records for accreditation processes and inspections, ensuring completion of daily QA and preventative maintenance scheduling, demonstrating advanced knowledge of Mammography imaging procedures, performing exams based on protocols, practicing radiation safety, operating equipment according to manufacturer recommendations, troubleshooting equipment problems, verifying exam orders, identifying patients, providing exam education, reviewing medical history, obtaining consent, ensuring paperwork completion, maintaining accurate patient records, and potentially performing other functions within the clinic, including assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, taking calls, overtime, or holiday shifts, assisting with clerical duties, phone reception, patient transportation, and training/cross-training imaging staff. The role requires self-motivation, independent judgment, and the ability to work with minimum supervision, as well as ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer)
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Must successfully pass a: pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
Prior Regulatory Survey Experience (MQSA)
Prior Breast Imaging Quality program oversight

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist, CT, and MRI Technologist.
Cross-trained into other modalities, including, but not limited to: CT, MRI, and DEXA.
Experience with electronic records, including PACS and EPIC

Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology.

Coordinates MQSA inspections, ACR accreditation, and regulatory survey readiness.
Maintains all required MQSA documentation, personnel qualifications, continuing education/experience, QC records, physicist reports, medical audits, consumer complaints, and corrective actions.
Oversees the Mammography QA/QC program and reviews all required quality control activities.
Leads mammography quality improvement initiatives and maintains continuous inspection readiness.
Develops and reviews mammography policies and procedures.
Monitors outcomes audits, repeat analysis, image quality, and performance metrics.
Provides staff education regarding MQSA requirements and best practices.
Serves as liaison with radiologists, physicists, vendors, quality, and leadership.
Maintains appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections.
Maintains a structured reporting system to ensure accurate audit reporting, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues.
Ensures completion of daily QA and preventative maintenance scheduling.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Mammography imaging procedures.
Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
Practices radiation safety.
Ability to operate equipment consistently with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls a service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
Verifies exam orders, identifies the patient through two means of identification, and provides exam education.
Reviews and documents the patient's medical history, obtains required informed consent, and ensures all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete and available before submitting procedures for Radiologist interpretation.
Maintains accurate patient records in EHR, including charging procedures and supplies.
May be required to perform other functions within the clinic. Any additional training required will be provided.
Demonstrates flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking calls, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed.
Obtains additional training or certification as required.
Assists with clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation when required.
Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
