About The Position

The mammography technologist will be performing screenings on FTOC patients regardless of ability to pay. They will treat patients with dignity and respect during a patient encounter, with the ability to minimize a patient’s anxiety and fear during their exam. The technologist will maintain a cohesive working relationship with patients, staff and providers and may act as a resource for those who have questions regarding breast health. They will have a strong working knowledge and understanding of MQSA and ACR regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Formal training from an accredited college, with completion of a two-year radiology technology program.
  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Science.
  • 2 years’ experience as a mammography technologist
  • California Radiologic Technologist CRT – M
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT - M
  • Excellent verbal Communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Organization skills.
  • 40 hours of documented training in mammography if qualifying after April 28, 1999
  • Have current 15 hours of continuing education in mammography.
  • Performed 25 supervised mammograms under a MQSA qualified individual.
  • Performed 200 exams in in a 24-month window as required by MQSA.
  • Strong knowledge of ACR and MQSA

Responsibilities

  • Perform screening mammogram procedures achieving a high level of image quality using correct anatomical markers and patient positioning.
  • Demonstrate computer competency and accuracy with EMR and RIS.
  • Proficient in Ramsoft, specific to scanning of paperwork, radiologist documentation, status updates and uploading comparative CD studies.
  • Responsible for equipment quality control tests, ACR and MQSA regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains timely upkeep and accuracy with the mammography tracking and reporting system. Specific to exam assessments, lay letter, logging of each patient performed.
  • Skilled at proper implant positioning and use of appropriate technical factors.
  • Explains to patient what will take place during their procedure, what to expect and when she will receive her results.
  • Delivers patient care in accordance with FTOC standards of quality of care.
  • Ensure a secure and safe patient work environment by maintaining awareness to safety hazard and adhering to patient confidentiality and HIPAA.
