About The Position

Responsible for performing a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. This role involves operating mammographic equipment, positioning patients, selecting proper exposure factors, evaluating images for diagnostic quality, and preparing medical supplies. The Mammographer will also explain procedures to patients and must be able to recognize the needs and behaviors of various age groups.

Requirements

  • Certificate/Diploma in medical imaging required
  • Radiologic Technologist [State License] - required
  • Registered Technologist [ARRT-R] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Needs to be able to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, understand the differences of female growth and development, and look for signs of normal aging degree of understanding and physical limitation related to age.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - preferred
  • Mammography [ARRT-M] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
  • Positions patients and uses immobilization if necessary.
  • Selects proper mode to produce correct exposure factors.
  • Evaluates images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed.
  • Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate.
  • Explains procedures to patients.
