About The Position

The City of Mason City is seeking a part-time Mall Security Guard to help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at Southbridge Mall. This position is ideal for someone with weekend availability and a commitment to public safety. The position offers approximately 20–28 hours per week, primarily during the following shifts: Friday: 2:30pm - 8:30pm Saturday: 1:00pm - 8:00pm Sunday: 10:30am - 5:30pm The schedule may be covered by one employee or split between multiple hires, depending on availability.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No felony convictions or other disqualifying criminal or civil record.
• Undertaking all tasks with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

• Previous security experience would be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling and monitoring premises to detect any irregularities, which may include suspicious behavior or security breaches.
• Keeping calm when alarms are triggered and escorting people to safety or apprehending the guilty parties.
• Responding to calls for help and contacting the fire department or law enforcement if required.
• Assisting during emergencies, ensuring minimal injury to people and damage to property.
• Removing or restraining anyone who threatens the safety or disturbs the peace.
• Wearing security uniforms when required, but working undercover if necessary.
• Following orders and working as part of a team to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
• Writing up daily reports and providing suggestions for improved security.
