About The Position

The MakerSpace Manager is responsible for organizing/performing the daily routines of the Drew Charter MakerSpace(s) and performing public service duties and a variety of clerical routines to maintain the MakerSpace(s). The MakerSpace Manager coordinates the technologies, supplies, and patron access to the MakerSpace and collaborates with staff from other departments (technology team and purchasing) as necessary to ensure the MakerSpace equipment is ready for use and in good working order. The MakerSpace Manager works closely with other parties involved in the support and promotion of the MakerSpace and cultivates and maintains dynamic relationships with individual faculty, staff and students and the Drew/East Lake community at large. Maintaining a flexible schedule and night and weekend work is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance card
  • Two years of progressively responsible Maker education experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Knowledge of computers and other forms of technological equipment
  • Knowledge of contemporary office software, office procedures and equipment
  • Ability to teach/train others.
  • Ability to perform clerical tasks accurately with close attention to detail, including scheduling
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with others
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Makerspace Club Perform Signup and Marketing for the club Develop projects for students to complete each week Order and prepare materials for each week’s class Teach club after school 1-2 days a week
  • Assist STEAM classes Collaborate with teachers to develop curriculum Assist teachers to execute curriculum and troubleshoot equipment issues Assist students with lab work
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance Train staff and students on how to perform primary maintenance Provide second-tier support for repairing and maintaining equipment Advise when new equipment is needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
