The Maker Web is a group of the 5 Makerspaces (fabrication and tinkering Labs) spread across campus, each with a different focus but all dedicated to supporting maker activities and hands-on learning in all disciplines at Union. These co-working spaces host students and faculty who wish to make things utilizing our resources which include a variety of digital fabrication tools including 3D Printers, 3D scanners, a laser cutter, and a CNC router. We also host many analog and electrical hand tools including industrial machining equipment, light wood working tools, soldering kits, Arduino kits, sewing machines, and basic tool kits. Maker Web Work Study students run and manage the general day to day activities of the Labs including managing the spaces, running machines and helping other students use the tools and resources offered in each Lab. Specific responsibilities and opportunities vary from Lab to Lab. We have a 3D Print Lab, a Wood and Metal Working Lab, a Laser Cutting Lab, a CNC Milling Lab and a VR and AR Lab. Makerspace Assistants staff each of these Labs and help other students access them and the resources they offer.
