About The Position
The Design / Create / Innovate Lab is seeking candidates that are enthusiastic about learning many different methods of fabrication but who are also interested in creating an inclusive culture in this space. The student employee will work with the Makerspace Assistant Director to assist in all aspect of equipment use and training.
Requirements
- No prior experience on the equipment is necessary, only a desire to learn and get your hands dirty
- Willingness to create a welcoming environment that encourages students to use the space
Responsibilities
- Be present in the Makerspace during scheduled shifts to oversee use of equipment
- Learn and become proficient in several different pieces of equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, waterjet, CNC mill, etc)
- Assist in teaching other students how to operate the equipment
- Write documentation on best practices for other students regarding the use of the equipment
- Assist in maintenance of equipment and inventory of parts and materials
- Maintain a comfortable and accessible environment in the Makerspace
