About The Position

The primary responsibility of this person would be to support students and staff working with equipment and materials in the Maker Suite at Arlington High School. This role involves teaching and supervising safety procedures to users (students and faculty), and collaborating with content area teachers to supervise their students who are accessing the Maker Space, as well as bringing tools and materials to other classrooms to help teachers implement interdisciplinary projects. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the safe use and maintenance of traditional woodworking, metal working, and shop tools.
  • Ability to guide students and faculty in their use of traditional woodworking, metal working, and shop tools.
  • Knowledge of the safe use and maintenance of digital fabrication tools such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC.
  • Ability to guide students in their use of digital fabrication tools such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC.
  • Experience with and enjoyment of working with high school aged students.
  • Awareness of the role that bias and prejudice play in society.
  • Creativity and willingness to try new approaches.
  • Reflective about daily practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support students and staff working with equipment and materials in the Maker Suite.

  • Maintain the core makerspace as an interdisciplinary resource for AHS during the school day.
