The Maker Program Specialist is an engaging person responsible for communicating to the general public about various sciences with a focus on hands-on making through the use of workshops, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and community partners in an informal setting. The Science Program Specialist will deliver educational content in the following ways: creation and implementation of maker related programming for The Hive: A Makerspace including open make activities and hands-on workshops, large capacity auditorium programming on and off museum grounds, guided tours and presentations, exhibit hall facilitation, and floor demonstrations. The Specialist will develop content for instructional use in all facets maker programming assigned by Director of Programs and/or Manager of Public Programs. Specialists must have the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Focus on specific STEM assets includes the development of diverse programs, coordination of grant funded projects, and staff training/development.
