About The Position

Responsible for leading and coordinating engineering execution for assigned major transmission projects, including EHV, 765 kV, complex urban, high-risk customer, and other special projects. Serves as the single engineering point of accountability for project readiness, early scope alignment, discipline coordination, risk visibility, customer and RFI coordination, issue escalation, and clear engineering communication with project management, leadership, and internal stakeholders. Provides enterprise-level technical and project leadership through influence across engineering disciplines and external partners to improve schedule confidence, reduce late-stage engineering issues, and support safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Requires a minimum of twelve years of experience in utility engineering, transmission engineering, major project engineering, project execution, or related technical leadership work.
  • Experience must include leading cross-functional engineering coordination for complex projects, working across multiple engineering disciplines, and influencing project teams, stakeholders, contractors, or external partners without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behavior and support for corporate compliance policy.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability to organize, coordinate, influence, and align cross-functional engineering teams, project stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and external partners.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, including presenting ideas clearly to senior management and external audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state is preferred.
  • Travel typically 25% or less, though greater travel may be required for specific assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering leadership and coordination for assigned major transmission projects in support of safety expectations, core principles, and business objectives.
  • Serve as the single point of engineering accountability for project readiness, discipline integration, issue escalation, and engineering execution alignment.
  • Coordinate early scope alignment across engineering disciplines, project management, construction, procurement, siting, customer, and other stakeholders to improve readiness and execution confidence.
  • Partner with discipline managers to align engineering priorities, validate schedules, identify resource constraints, and ensure appropriate subject matter expert involvement.
  • Lead engineering execution planning, including milestone alignment, deliverable sequencing, material readiness, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Own the identification, escalation, visibility, and resolution of engineering risks and cross-functional issues that may impact project delivery.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering reviews and support readiness through IFR, IDC contractor integration, customer station coordination, field interface support, IFC, construction, and energization.
  • Ensure engineering work products and project decisions comply with applicable standards, engineering practices, quality requirements, safety in design expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure discipline and standards subject matter experts and Professional Engineers are engaged before technical decisions are finalized.
  • Provide clear, consistent engineering communication for project updates, executive briefings, stakeholder discussions, customer coordination, and issue escalation.
  • Lead engineering coordination forums and facilitate alignment of priorities, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions across project teams, discipline managers, engineering resources, and external partners.
  • Support integration of external engineering partners, consultants, OEM suppliers, IDC contractors, and other service providers to coordinate scope, interfaces, deliverables, and technical assumptions.
  • Promote continuous improvement in major project engineering execution by identifying lessons learned, process gaps, and opportunities to improve coordination, readiness, and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate with project management while recognizing the PM remains accountable for overall project scope, schedule, budget, procurement, siting, outreach, telecom, construction, and stakeholder delivery.
  • Maintain safety as the highest priority by ensuring engineering coordination, design reviews, constructability considerations, and external partner work products address safety in design and applicable work requirements.
