About The Position

The Major Gifts Director, Corporate & Foundations is responsible for generating growth of private and philanthropic partnerships by leading new and existing corporate partnerships and key components of the strategic account plans for HALO’s global philanthropic partnerships, with a primary focus in the U.S. This role involves leading investment and revenue growth towards multi-million-dollar annual targets through the development and delivery of corporate relationship strategies and the acquisition of new corporate accounts. The position requires cultivating key account relationships, providing excellent supporter and investor stewardship, and leading strategic account plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders including the CEO and Trustees. The role also involves working with international program teams and managers to ensure high-quality proposals and reports are developed under tight deadlines, managing a portfolio of prospective accounts and donors, and providing flexible support for proposal development and reporting. Additionally, the Director will work closely with international colleagues to support global fundraising efforts, supervise associate and officer positions within the philanthropy team, tier corporate partners, and assist in recruiting C-level leaders for the board and ambassadorship. Ensuring ethical standards and due diligence for all partners, participating in contract negotiations, and providing gold-standard stewardship are also key aspects of the role. The position requires managing donor records in Salesforce and providing regular analyses and reporting.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of leading successful relationships with Corporations, Foundations, or equivalent philanthropic partnerships, particularly those giving at the six or seven-figure level.
  • Personal track record of cultivating and soliciting donations from corporations, foundations, etc. at the six-figure level.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments.
  • Outstanding research and writing skills with the ability to work with programme and finance colleagues to design robust project proposals, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Confident in working with financial information including project budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication, and gravitas.
  • Experience in working with a fundraising database to maximize relationship development.
  • A commitment to HALO’s mission and objectives.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to articulate HALO’s various programmes and strategies in a compelling way.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing successful partnerships with corporate partners within the US and/or globally.
  • Experience of high-value revenue growth in the following areas is desirable: disaster relief, conflict, mine action, environment/conservation, and impact investment.
  • Experience in pipeline and account development for global investments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investment and revenue growth of multi-million-dollar annual targets and revenue through the development and delivery of corporate relationship strategies, and acquisition of new corporate accounts.
  • Personally cultivate key account relationships, providing excellence in supporter and investor stewardship.
  • Lead key components of the strategic account plans for HALO’s global partnerships, supporting the Head of Philanthropy, and other key internal stakeholders, including CEO/Trustees.
  • Work with international programme teams and US or UK Corporate and Grants Manager to ensure the development of high-quality proposals and reports within tight deadlines.
  • Personally develop and manage a portfolio of prospective accounts and donors, guiding them through the various cultivation phases and ultimately securing new funding in line with HALO’s strategic funding priorities and global prospect list.
  • Provide flexible support to priority areas of work, including proposal development and reporting for existing partnerships across the philanthropy team.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the UK and overseas programs as part of a global team to provide support to global fundraising efforts.
  • Provide day- to day supervision and staff management of associate and officer positions within the philanthropy team to expand workplace giving, cause-marketing, event sponsorship, etc.
  • Tier corporate partners to meet organizational priorities for flexible and restricted funding and attract a diverse set of businesses.
  • Assist the Head of Philanthropy in the recruitment of C-level suite leaders for the board, development committee, and HALO ambassadorship.
  • Ensure every prospect and corporate partner meets the HALO ethical standards and due diligence, seeks legal advice, and presents to leadership profiles for further decision-making and consideration.
  • Participate in partnership and investment structuring and contract negotiations and work with country and regional HALO members to identify and implement partnerships.
  • Provide gold standard stewardship to corporate accounts year around and accompany partners to organized travels and or private events and visits in the field.
  • Manage accounts and donor records and correspondence in Salesforce and provide quarterly and annual analyses and reporting.
  • Work within the framework of HALO’s core values, promoting its ethos and mission statement.
  • Work towards achieving programme and/or group business plan objectives.
  • Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all HALO policies and procedures and keep informed of HALO activities.
  • Travel within the US and overseas as, and when required.
