MAJOR AND PRINCIPAL GIVING PORTFOLIO MANAGER
About The Position
CARE is seeking a strategic, data-driven fundraising professional to support its Major and Principal Giving team with insights, systems, and strategies to grow philanthropic revenue. The role works with the Prospect Research team to identify and qualify high-net-worth prospects, optimize fundraising portfolios, and enhance donor pipeline management. It applies research and prospect-management best practices to inform strategy, track performance, and support relationship managers in building long-term donor partnerships. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Research & Portfolio Management and serves as a strategic partner to fundraisers, ensuring alignment with CARE’s operational processes and policies.
Responsibilities
- Lead regular portfolio review sessions with Major and Principal Gift fundraisers, preparing data-driven briefs and facilitating discussions about channel assignment, engagement tactics, and pipeline progression.
- Maintain and refine moves-management workflows, ensuring accurate tracking of donor interactions, solicitations, and outcomes.
- Research and write donor and prospect biographies and conduct basic wealth screens using external databases and internal systems.
- Assist fundraisers with requesting and preparing comprehensive philanthropic and wealth research on individuals using tools and expertise provided by the Prospect Research team; prepare reports or summaries using the data received.
- Generate and manage capacity and inclination ratings to qualify and prioritize prospects.
- Identify new high-potential prospects through screening, network analysis, and external lists.
- Stay informed about high-net-worth giving trends, research tools, and philanthropic strategies.
- Develop dashboards and reports to monitor portfolio health, fundraising performance, and KPI achievement.
- Prepare and present monthly analysis to leadership, offering strategic insights and recommending adjustments based on donor trends and performance data.
- Lead post-event prospect review processes for key donor events, such as the Impact Awards, including follow-up strategies and reassignment recommendations.
- Support special projects as needed.
