About The Position

Oversee the dining experience to ensure impeccable service and excellent food and wine pairings to exceed the expectations of our discerning guests.

Requirements

  • HS DIPLOMA
  • 7 years’ previous experience in fine dining and hospitality, required.
  • Possess excellent customer service focus.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain poise, professionalism, composure, and patience in high-paced, stressful situations.
  • Possess ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and vendors.
  • Possess ability to multitask, maintain organization, and exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and diffuse tense situations and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
  • Possess capability to adapt to a constantly changing environment and set of challenges.
  • Possess the ability to effectively lead a team and collaborate effectively with other departments and teams.
  • Possess basic math and computer skills, be familiar with point of sale (POS) software, Open Table, Excel and Word along with the ability to learn and master other systems as needed.
  • Required to have or obtain food handlers and alcohol service certifications.
  • Possess Wine education certification, required.
  • Must be 18+ years old and be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a drug test and background check for an AZ Gaming License.
  • Must adhere to all Cliff Castle Casino Hotel policies and procedures.
  • Must be committed to providing exceptional guest service through a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment.
  • Aim to exceed guest expectations with attentive, personalized service and prompt responses and resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • 2YR DEGREE
  • 3 years’ experience as a sommelier in a 4-star or better fine dining restaurant may substitute for certification.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes guests in a warm and friendly manner, ascertains their dining preferences and needs, determines best seating, communicates specials, promotions, and wait times.
  • Maintains and updates seating chart, including making reservations, keeping track of available tables, and managing waiting lists in coordination with kitchen and serving staff.
  • Directs diners to their table or the bar, provides them with menus, and answers questions about chef’s specials and other menu features.
  • Responds to guest requests and questions politely and efficiently, taking notes on food allergies and other dietary restrictions and coordinating with kitchen staff and other team members as needed.
  • Greets diners who arrive for takeout orders and coordinates delivery orders with mobile food delivery services.
  • Creates and develops a dynamic and interesting wine program at the restaurant.
  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, inventory, organizing, and selling wine for all departments.
  • Assists guests and Team Members during the dinner service with wine recommendations and selection for perfect pairing with their dinner, decanting of the wine, and wine service.
  • Develops a training program for Team Members to increase their knowledge of general service, wine tasting, and wine service.
  • Guides opening and closing of the restaurant in cooperation with the chef and back-of-house manager.
  • Pitches in to clear and set tables and deliver food and other requested items to diners.
  • Keeps waiting areas clean and organized and ensures that waiting customers are comfortable.
  • Hires, trains, and leads FOH staff to ensure diners have an excellent, welcoming, and memorable dining experience.
  • Resolves conflicts or addresses to prevent disappointment with meal or service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
