About The Position

The Maitre D at KYU is pivotal in providing a seamless and exceptional dining experience by managing guest relations, overseeing front-of-house operations, and ensuring efficient service. We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual who excels in creating a welcoming atmosphere, managing reservations, and leading the front-of-house team to deliver high standards of service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations with professionalism.
  • In-depth knowledge of front-of-house operations, including reservation systems and guest management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Hospitality Management or related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • Manage the reservation system, including booking, modifying, and canceling reservations.
  • Coordinate and oversee seating arrangements to ensure a smooth flow of guests and optimal table turnover.
  • Provide accurate wait time estimates and communicate effectively with guests regarding their seating status.
  • Supervise and guide the front-of-house staff, including hosts and servers, to ensure excellent service.
  • Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and concerns with professionalism and resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor and manage the dining room environment to maintain high standards of cleanliness and ambiance.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages.
  • Assist in training new front-of-house staff on standard operating procedures and service expectations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, specials, and policies to provide accurate information to guests.
  • Prepare and review daily reports on guest feedback, service performance, and reservations.
  • Implement and enforce front-of-house policies and procedures to ensure consistency and quality of service.
  • Assist in managing and resolving conflicts or complaints in a constructive manner.
