About The Position

QSAC is a nonprofit organization based in New York City and Long Island that supports children and adults with autism, along with their families. The organization aims to help individuals achieve greater independence, realize their potential, and contribute meaningfully to their communities through person-centered services. QSAC offers direct services in a supportive and individualized setting to enhance communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills for individuals with autism. This role is for a full-time Maintenance Worker - Janitorial, responsible for maintaining the safety and appearance of a QSAC facility. The salary range is $16.50-$20.00 per hour. A driver's license is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • References required.
  • 1-2 years of general maintenance and facility cleaning skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.

  • Driver license highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning bathrooms/kitchens, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors.
  • Hygienic cleaning and garbage collection and removal.
  • Maintaining cleanliness throughout facilities by completing assigned daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
  • Adhering to building/maintenance/codes to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of facilities, individuals, and employees.
  • Prioritizing work to complete time-sensitive issues first.
  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and using them responsibly.
  • Demonstrating safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft.
  • Completing projects such as moving furniture, deliveries, painting, and plastering efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Working independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities.
  • Reporting for QSAC events for preparation and breakdown as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management.
  • Utilizing troubleshooting skills to determine the best way to fix problems and communicating delays or emergency reassignments to supervisors.
  • Responding promptly to program needs throughout the facility.
  • Identifying problems in the facility and informing supervisors as soon as they are discovered.
  • Reporting to work for snow removal as needed.
  • Maintaining family and individual confidentiality.
