The Maintenance Worker performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision. The role assists with installation of new equipment and supports the Maintenance Supervisor and other personnel on special fabrication and construction projects. It follows a preventive maintenance schedule and performs machine repair and installation, including replacing motors, rebuilding gearboxes, running threaded and welded piping, overhauling pumps, replacing packing and shaft seals on cookers and pumps, and welding and using a cutting torch. The worker conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment, diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction, and may diagnose and repair control circuits and install variable-frequency drives (VFDs). The role also requires maintaining an orderly work area, using assigned personal protective and safety equipment, following company safety rules, attending scheduled safety meetings, and potentially serving on the Safety Committee. Additional duties may be assigned. The position works rotating 12-hour night shifts, includes every-other-weekend scheduling, and requires availability for on-call work as needed. Work takes place in a bakery processing facility, with wet or slippery floors and high or cold temperatures.
