About The Position

Responsible for campus-wide maintenance and serving as the first responder to emergencies. This role involves a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and safety of the campus facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma recommended for this position.
  • Ability to read, speak and write English is required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, infectious body fluids, chemicals (gasoline, oil, lubricants, paint, etc.) may be present.
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize duties.
  • Some heavy lifting required (~75 lbs, @ 5% of time), ~20 lbs, @ 5% of time, <20 lbs, throughout the day.
  • Walking, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting, handling, talking, seeing, carrying, concentration, and maintenance of an appropriate working speed are required for this position.
  • Gloves: appropriate work gloves worn as needed.
  • Safety Glasses: worn when performing tasks and operating machinery that could potentially injure eyes.
  • Shoes: heavy-duty work shoes/boots.
  • Badge: Bethany Village photo I.D.
  • Must be able to communicate with staff, residents, and the families of the residents.
  • Task-centeredness, punctuality, and a pleasant demeanor are beneficial to successful performance in this position.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

  • Outside trimming of shrubs, mowing around building, flower / tree planting, and trash pickup.
  • Seasonal decorating of building.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and routine custodial duties as assigned.
  • Assists in removal of snow.
  • Stripping/waxing floors as scheduled.
  • Performs all operational assignments as requested, and completes daily work orders.
  • Informs the Maintenance Supervisor/Director of Maintenance immediately of any malfunction of equipment or any hazardous condition.
  • Clean areas used at the completion of work or at the end of the day.
  • Participates in campus trash collection.
  • Requisitions all supplies through the Maintenance Supervisor/Director of Maintenance, and assists in maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies in the department.
  • Has some knowledge of fire alarms, fire equipment, heat and smoke detectors.
  • Washing of exterior windows seasonally.
  • Maintaining facility water softener (maintaining salt levels).
  • High speed floor burnishing.
  • Perform lockout / tagout.
  • Emergency generator checks and logs.
  • First responder to emergency situations on campus.
  • Escort emergency personnel on campus and assist as directed.
  • Follows instructions of the fire and disaster plans.
  • Check fire panels.
  • Assists in the opening and closing of buildings as required.
  • Endorses and complies with the Vision, objectives, procedures, and policies of Bethany Village and the Maintenance Department.
  • Partake in weekly on-call rotation.
