About The Position

The Maintenance Worker, under the supervision of the Director of Physical Plant (of the Retirement Community), performs a variety of duties in order to maintain building, grounds, equipment and machinery in the best possible condition considering safety, aesthetics, convenience and cost-effectiveness. Follows proper safety procedures and performs related duties as required. Works overtime and in emergency situations as required.

Requirements

  • A current valid PA Driver's license required. (No points on driving abstract).
  • A High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in various trades, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, communication systems and general carpentry.
  • Employee must be mentally and physically able to perform all essential job functions which may require heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.), bending, pulling, pushing, lifting and prolonged periods of sitting/standing.
  • May involve exposure to blood and body fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to perform all work in accordance with State and local building codes as applicable.
  • Skill, ability and OSHA prescribed safety precautions when using a variety of power tools and hand tools including the use of personal protective equipment and tool guards.
  • Previous experience in facility management preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all general maintenance needs of Christ's Home.
  • Servicing requests delegated by the Maintenance Supervisor, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical repairs and modifications in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Performing emergency maintenance.
  • Performing preventative maintenance work such as changing filters and drive belts, exhaust systems, light bulbs, doors and closet doors.
  • Performing routine maintenance including replacing light bulbs, replacing tiles, patching drywall, painting and installing screens and storm windows.
  • Performing general yard work including raking, trimming, watering plants and lawns; plowing and shoveling snow; sweeping steps, etc.
  • Attending and participating in in-services and employee meetings as required.
