About The Position

Gain hands-on, journey-level experience working at a large-scale, 4,225-acre agricultural operation at our Twenty mile South Farm in Kuna supporting a vital biosolids application program. This role involves a variety of outdoor, semi-skilled work including field preparation, planting, irrigating, cultivating, and harvesting crops. You’ll operate a wide range of modern farm equipment and learn from experienced professionals through direct, on-site supervision - making this a great opportunity to build practical skills in commercial agriculture and land management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience working in an agricultural setting, including experience operating heavy equipment such as tractors, front-end loaders or harvesters and maintaining large irrigation systems, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to safely operate a wide range of farming equipment and hand and power tools
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
  • Ability to perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Four years of experience working in an agricultural setting performing a wide range of duties involved with growing and harvesting crops such as corn.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and cultivates the land.
  • Operates tractors, tractor-drawn machinery and self-propelled machinery to prepare the soil for planting.
  • Plants, cultivates, sprays and harvests crops.
  • Applies treated biosolids to fields as a soil supplement.
  • Operates spreader trucks to apply biosolids to fields.
  • Transports crops to storage facilities on site.
  • Maintains irrigation systems to ensure crops are properly watered.
  • Sets up, moves and operates irrigation equipment, hand lines, wheel lines and circle irrigation systems.
  • Deals with agricultural pests; applies pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
  • Directs and monitors the work of seasonal employees during planting and harvesting seasons.
  • Performs varied grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Sets sprinklers, replaces broken sprinkler heads and adjusts automatic time clocks.
  • Performs irrigation system pressure checks and winterization of the facility irrigation system; maintains fire lanes around buildings and property; and cleans debris from pathways, parking lots and roof gutters.
  • Repairs concrete sidewalks and pads.
  • Maintains grounds equipment and tools; performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on farm equipment and general maintenance and repair to farm buildings and other structures.
  • Builds, welds and maintains perimeter fencing.
  • Assumes security responsibilities at the farm site, observes and reports incidents that do not adhere to the rules and policies of property or abnormal conditions such as vandalism and improper usage of the site.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
