About The Position

The Maintenance Worker will perform various routine repairs, maintenance and installation of operational equipment necessary to keep county-owned property and equipment in a functional and orderly manner. This position will maintain and repair physical structures of buildings and maintain grounds by performing the following duties. Criminal background check may be required. State Child Abuse Clearance may be required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Six months to one year of job-related experience and/or training.
• Strong mechanical ability.
• Ability to operate light and heavy tools and machinery.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds.
• Ability to carry tasks to completion.
• Accurate and detail-oriented.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong work ethic.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance (i.e., maintain and repair building's plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses).
• Respond to emergency breakdown of equipment.
• Install new equipment.
• Perform routine procedures in the daily operation of the sewage plant (Pocopson).
• Paint interior and exterior walls and trim.
• Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
