About The Position

This position performs street and drainage system maintenance and repair duties, including maintaining and repairing ditches, catch basins, headwalls, and drainage pipes. The worker flags traffic at work sites, maintains assigned vehicles and equipment, makes sidewalk and curb repairs, repairs street water and sewer cuts, installs road signs, and operates a backhoe, tamper, other equipment, and a variety of hand and power tools. The position also performs related duties.

Requirements

• Knowledge of street and drainage system maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of city infrastructure.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.
• Skill in operating assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in operating hand and power tools.
• Skill in decision-making and problem-solving.
• Skill in interpersonal relations and dealing with the public.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• No experience requirements.
• Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
