About The Position

Under the direction of the Facility Manager, the general maintenance person assists with routine tasks assigned, such as maintaining central heating and cooling systems, domestic water, building security, sewage and sanitation, custodial and janitorial services, fire prevention and protection, safety, radio and telecommunication, and related functions. This includes equipment repair and maintenance for academic, residential, and maintenance areas. The position is Non-Exempt.

Requirements

High school Diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in a job-related field.
Current valid Washington State Driver’s License.
Pass Washington State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Colville Tribal Background checks.
Two years minimum work experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, general maintenance, custodial, or grounds keeping.
Ability to lift fifty pounds (50 lbs).
Ability to pass post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
Obtain First Aid/CPR card within 30 days of employment and keep current during employment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.
Ability to maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public.
Ability to provide equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events for academic and residential areas.
Ability to help test, repair, install, and maintain facilities and equipment, including heating and ventilation systems and plumbing and sewer systems for academic, residential, and maintenance areas.
Ability to assist with modifications to existing facilities and equipment.
Ability to see to it that all maintenance vehicles are in good running condition and clean.
Ability to assist in a preventive maintenance program and keep records of all work done.
Ability to inspect school and residential facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identify necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, or weather conditions.
Ability to assist and help care for all lawns and shrubbery/bushes/trees, including watering, mowing, pruning, thinning, fertilizing, and grooming.
Ability to assist with maintenance of all lawnmowers, weed eaters, and other tools and equipment used in maintenance.
Ability to help with the purchase of supplies and equipment as needed.
Ability to assist in a safety program by being a member of a committee.
Ability to help move furniture and other equipment as needed for staff, and arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classrooms, and residential activities, athletic events, and special events.
Ability to assist in caring for the fire equipment by inspecting the exit lights and emergency lights, and fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.
Ability to clean assigned school and residential facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
Ability to repair furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring items are available and in safe working condition.
Ability to paint various surfaces as may be required (e.g., walls, ceiling, etc.).
Ability to prepare facility for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, building access doors, disarming security systems, etc.).
Ability to stock supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of the items required to properly maintain the facilities.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.
If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
