About The Position

This position is responsible for carrying out all aspects of the maintenance program at the Ruston Campus. The role involves responding promptly to written maintenance requests, maintaining an organized shop for tools and materials, and ensuring the campus grounds are well-kept and attractive. The Maintenance Worker will perform general repairs on buildings and equipment, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintaining agency vehicles, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and conducting periodic safety checks. The role also includes performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Rudimentary skill and knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electricity, painting, and mechanical skills.
  • Capacity to observe areas of need and communicate them to their supervisor.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and through proper channels with total staff.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude in maintenance, operating and caring for electrical, carpentry, plumbing, construction hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Skilled in dealing with emergency situations.
  • Willing to be recalled to handle emergency situations.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Ability to receive direction from others.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all aspects of the maintenance program.
  • Give prompt attention to all written maintenance request forms and report disposition upon completion.
  • Maintain a systematic and orderly shop for tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Perform systematic lawn mowing and trimming in season to keep the campus attractive.
  • Make general repairs of all buildings and equipment, determining needed carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, or other repairs.
  • Maintain all landscaping of the agency to present a proper image to the community.
  • Ensure all agency vehicles are in proper repair and safe for staff and youth.
  • Ensure all buildings and equipment comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Make periodic safety checks of buildings and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
