About The Position

The Maintenance Worker provides quality care and maintenance of all Wheeler Clinic properties. This role is responsible for completing daily maintenance work orders, identifying and repairing safety hazards, and assisting with special projects such as renovations and departmental moves. The position also requires responding to after-hours emergency repairs and providing backup coverage for custodial duties, including snow removal during inclement weather.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience in painting and performing general maintenance
  • 80% of the job requirement will consist of light drywall installation, wall repairs, patching, compounding, sanding and painting both interior and exterior.
  • Valid Drivers License is required.
  • Safely operates vehicle in the community, based on program needs

Responsibilities

  • Completes daily Maintenance Work Orders as assigned by supervisor.
  • Submits all completed work orders to supervisor with signature, date completed, any notes, and/or receipts justifying expenditure for materials/supplies.
  • Organizes material list to minimize the number of trips to retail outlet for supplies.
  • Responds to after hour emergency repairs as directed by supervisor.
  • Identifies any safety hazards while completing routine work orders and repairs immediately.
  • Maintains proper care of departmental tools and assigned company vehicle.
  • Maintains a clean and well-organized maintenance shop.
  • Completes special projects (renovations, departmental moves, new program openings, office closures, licensing and Joint Commission inspections, etc.) as directed.
  • Provides back-up coverage for evening custodial position as required.
  • Reports to work when Wheeler is closed due to inclement weather to provide snow removal.
  • Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
