About The Position

The Maintenance Worker regularly performs a full range of maintenance and housekeeping services, including the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, guest rooms, and public spaces for NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG). This role involves assignments such as simple painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs, utilizing various equipment. The incumbent is expected to take initiative to ensure all facility aspects are functioning correctly. Work assignments are spot-checked daily via documented inspection reports to ensure technical accuracy and compliance. Recurring tasks are carried out independently, while unfamiliar problems are referred to a supervisor. The position requires adherence to DOD and Navy regulations and may involve travel to other facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience with demonstrated skill in two areas (Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Painting).
  • Knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safe work practices.
  • Complete all required safety security training.
  • One year of general experience that provided knowledge of general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, etc.
  • Three years of specialized maintenance work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in at least two of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures: Plumbing, Washer/Dryer repair, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Electrical, Carpentry, Painting.
  • Maintain work order log and follow up as required.
  • Report status to supervisor.
  • Log trouble calls with contractor as appropriate.
  • Make basic plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves on washing machines and water supply, including removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units, and installing water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets and sinks.
  • Perform routine maintenance on washers and dryers, including cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings, and referring complex problems to supervisor.
  • Recognize the cause of faulty equipment and assist in making repairs on a variety of HVAC units.
  • Recognize and report electrical problems, making repairs as appropriate, and replace fluorescent and incandescent ballasts, bulbs and tubes.
  • Measure, cut, construct or repair wood or wood substitute items, and conduct basic carpentry repairs such as repairing or replacing screens, window and door frames, molding and trim, and repair and replacement of drywall.
  • Prepare areas and apply standard coating methods (brushing, rolling, spraying) to ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs.
  • Perform a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks related to the operation and maintenance of facilities.
  • Carry out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions.
  • Perform daily work on own initiative and carry out assignments in accordance with DOD and Navy regulations.
  • Refer situations involving unfamiliar problems not covered by instructions to the supervisor for resolution.
  • May be required to possess a valid state driver license for travel to other facilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
