Under close supervision, performs general labor and maintenance of City Parks, golf course, facilities and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND one year of general maintenance or landscaping experience.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Basic tools and equipment used in parks, facilities and grounds maintenance.
  • City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills for positive relationships with employees, patrons, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of specialized equipment and performs manual labor tasks in order to maintain safe parks and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment.
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment including but not limited to hand tools, commercial mower (rotary and reel), weed eater, blower, chain saw, pickup truck, trailers, utility vehicles, tractors, skid steer loader and golf carts, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains City facilities and buildings.
  • Assists in the planting, watering, mowing, weeding, trimming and renovation of turf and landscaping.
  • Make repairs and perform maintenance to buildings, facilities, irrigation systems and equipment using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanic skills; and reports problems requiring additional attention.
  • Assists in the maintenance of landscaping park and golf course grounds; clears trash, brush, weeds and debris from grounds and facilities.
  • Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
