About The Position

Responsible for campus-wide maintenance and serving as the first responder to emergencies. This role involves a variety of tasks including outdoor groundskeeping, seasonal decorating, preventive maintenance, routine custodial duties, snow removal assistance, floor care, and responding to work orders. The position requires communication with the Maintenance Supervisor/Director, maintaining inventory, and having basic knowledge of fire safety equipment. The role also includes washing exterior windows, maintaining facility water softeners, performing high-speed floor burnishing, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency generator checks. The Maintenance Worker is a first responder to campus emergencies, escorts emergency personnel, and follows disaster plans. Compliance with Bethany Village and Maintenance Department policies and procedures is expected, along with participation in a weekly on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma recommended.
  • Ability to read, speak and write English is required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate with staff, residents, and the families of the residents.
  • Task-centeredness, punctuality, and a pleasant demeanor are beneficial.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of fire alarms, fire equipment, heat and smoke detectors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outside trimming of shrubs, mowing around buildings, flower/tree planting, and trash pickup.
  • Complete seasonal decorating of the building.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine custodial duties.
  • Assist in snow removal.
  • Strip and wax floors as scheduled.
  • Complete all operational assignments and daily work orders.
  • Immediately inform the Maintenance Supervisor/Director of any equipment malfunction or hazardous condition.
  • Clean areas used at the completion of work or at the end of the day.
  • Participate in campus trash collection.
  • Requisition supplies and assist in maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Wash exterior windows seasonally.
  • Maintain facility water softener by checking salt levels.
  • Perform high-speed floor burnishing.
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Conduct emergency generator checks and maintain logs.
  • Act as a first responder to emergency situations on campus.
  • Escort emergency personnel on campus and assist as directed.
  • Follow instructions of the fire and disaster plans.
  • Check fire panels.
  • Assist in the opening and closing of buildings as required.
  • Endorse and comply with the Vision, objectives, procedures, and policies of Bethany Village and the Maintenance Department.
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation.
